Mama's little Vader

The flu has made it rounds in our home....I'm at its mercy. So far I've lost my voice and my body is completely drained and i'm pretty sure I ate green beans out the can with some toast and Nutella one night for dinner. How single parents deal with taking care of a sick kid when they are sick themselves is beyond me.

Props to y'all rock stars.

So the hubby has been taking care of the kiddo and I kid you not he's like a deer caught in the headlights on some things. He's a great father to Ethan and I couldn't of asked for a better husband. But it's sink or swim time in the Koenig house. I'll admit Ethan is spoiled...heck he's only 5 months old who's child isn't at that age? He likes to be held all the time. Tummy time is the end of the world. His bottle better be ready before he realizes he's hungry and his favorite toy the owl better not talk trash or he's getting the gummies. Also, we've starting sleep training...pray for us. I mean he starts off in his crib, but some how at two A.M. he's in our bed with Jason and myself on the edge of the bed teetering. One good kick from little man and we're rolling off no doubts about it.

I actually re-homed some of our animals this week. We have a sorority tank of female betta fish and one of my coworkers was looking into getting something for her tank. I thought it would be a great opportunity to say farewell to the ladies as the hubby calls them and open up a tank for a new critter. We've...correction.... I've been looking into adopting an endangered species for a few years now but needed more experienced with aquatic animals before biting the bullet. So as of right now there's a 55 gallon tank cycling on my dining room table that nobody's ever ate at  in the 8 years we've lived together. Jason walked in after I set it up looked at it and walked away...I told y'all hes use to my antics by now.

Ginger our hound is doing better and better as the days roll by. She's started playing with our Shepherd Annabelle daily instead of being a grumpy gills. Also the food that she's been on is going smoothly she gobbles it up with a quickness. I'm happy that this is such an improvement in a short time and look forward to her being back to her normal self. Enjoy this video of Annabelle being the little terror that she is. Also our bedroom is a hot mess.

I actually had a chance to pick up my camera again. This would be the second time since giving birth to Ethan. I was honored to take pictures of my friend and her darling daughter for Valentines day photos. The hubby finally broke down and let me get Photoshop and Lightroom. I'm no pro obviously but I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out. I also had the pleasure of taking our family photos a few months ago. I've broke down and got one of them put on a canvas from a website call canvas people. Use the promo code Respect and you only pay shipping for an 11X14. I'm not paid to promote this... it was an offer I came across...I tried it out...and it worked. My honest opinion on it is this...While its attached nicely to the frame and it was free. I don't like how it looks...it's too pix elated. Granted that could be user error but they advertise using Facebook photos. Everyone know's that Facebook lowers the quality of pictures by a good amount. So how did a photograph right off my DSL camera come out so horrible? I still put it on my wall collage at our front door..but I'm honestly not impressed. That's terrible of me to say since it was free and if my grandmother read this she would give me a good scolding and tell me to be greatful.

I've actually started working on my new year resolutions. The first was to learn how to sew, get healthy, and finally start my own business. I've been working on all three so far this week. I've still not figured out how to thread my sewing machine but I've been watching YouTube videos like crazy...that counts for something right? As far as the getting healthy part I've started walking with Ethan and the crazy pack of wild dogs I have and eating somewhat healthy. I'll let y'all know how that goes further on this month. Finally as for the starting my own business..I have something in the works with a friend of mine. We're trying to figure out all the kinks before we really get this wrecking ball going.

My question for you folks is this. Do any of y'all have your own business? If so how do you handle the stress, start up and making time for it with a family and life?

  1. Ugh being sick and trying to parent is the WORST! We got hit with the stomach bug when my son was about 15 months old. He got it first, then I came down with it, and my poor husband had to sink or swim too, because it knocked me right out. I was so sick that I was passing out. Literally couldn't get out of bed except to vomit for an entire day and a half. Dad's always figure it out, but it can be humorous to watch when they aren't used to having to do everything by themselves.
